How to Study Physics for JEE and NEET

Jul 14, 2026 by deltaphysics

If I ask a classroom full of students one question—“Which subject scares you the most?”—the answer is usually the same.

Physics.

Not because students aren’t intelligent.  Physics is not impossible.

Meanwhile, most of the time, it’s because they start treating Physics like a subject to memorize instead of a subject to understand.

Over the years, I’ve met students who walked into their first class saying, “Sir, Physics is just not for me.” A few months later, many of those same students were solving questions they once thought were impossible. The difference wasn’t magic. It was the way they studied.

Finally, If you’re preparing for JEE, NEET, or even your Class 11 and 12 exams, this guidance is for you.

Stop Running After Formulas

One of the biggest mistakes students make is collecting formulas.

They buy formula books, make colorful notes, and try to remember everything before understanding where those formulas come from.

Every formula tells a story. If you understand that story, you won’t have to force yourself to remember it.

For example, before writing any equation from the chapter on Motion, ask yourself:

  • What is actually happening here?
  • Why does this formula work?
  • What changes if the speed increases or decreases?

So, once these questions become a habit, Physics starts making sense.

Quality Practice Beats Long Study Hours

Students often ask me,

“Sir, how many hours should I study?”

 So, there’s no perfect number.

Meanwhile, some students study for six focused hours and achieve excellent results.

Others sit with books for ten hours but remain distracted.

Instead of counting hours, count meaningful work.

Firstly, ask yourself:

  • Did I understand today’s topic?
  • Did I solve enough questions?
  • Did I learn from my mistakes?

Those answers matter much more than the clock.

Don’t Be Afraid of Difficult Chapters

Every student has one chapter they keep postponing.

Maybe it’s Rotation.

Maybe Current Electricity.

Maybe Ray Optics.

The longer you avoid a difficult topic, the bigger it seems.

Start with thirty minutes.

Understand one concept.

Solve a few basic questions.

You’ll be surprised how quickly that “difficult” chapter becomes manageable.

The Secret Is Consistency

Students often look for shortcuts.

The truth is, there aren’t any.

Good scores in Physics are built through small daily efforts.

Study regularly.

Ask questions when you’re confused.

Practice honestly.

Revise often.

Do this for a few months, and your confidence will grow naturally.
